Welcome to the Convention!

The Hungarian Cultural Convention is a celebration of our community, and we want as many people as possible to join us. That’s why most events throughout the six-day convention are completely free to attend.

However, some special performances and workshops require tickets, and food and beverages are available for purchase throughout the event.

What's Free?

The following activities are open to everyone at no cost:

All Presentations & Lectures
Hungarian history, culture, wine, cuisine, and more

Art & Bonegilla Exhibitions
Opening receptions and viewing throughout the convention

Children’s Activities
Scouting activities, talent shows, and entertainment

Twilight Concerts
Beautiful performances throughout the week

Cultural Workshops
Rubik’s Cube competition, fashion show, and more

Café sessions and community gatherings

🎉 Opening Night Cocktail Party

Sunday, December 28th – 6:00 PM
Official opening celebration
Tickets: $40 per person


🎭 Szabadság Szerelem includes László Attila

Tuesday, December 30th – 3:30 PM
“Szabadság Szerelem” – A music and literature experience featuring talented performers from Sárospatak
Admission: $15
FREE for under 16s


🍽️ Hungarian Cooking Demonstration

Tuesday, December 30th – 12:00 PM
“Túrós Csusza” with Ilka Nunis, author of “Ilka’s Kitchen”
Tickets: $25 per person (includes one serve and a glass of wine)
📚 Book signing available – “Ilka’s Kitchen: Stories and Recipes from My Hungarian Heritage” – $59.95


💃 Folk Dance Seminars

Full Five-Day Seminar – $250 Your ticket includes:

  • One delicious traditional Hungarian meal per day
  • 5 days of world-class dance instruction and music from professional teachers and musicians from Hungary
  • Free entry to the nightly “Táncház” (Folk Dance House)

Single Day Seminar:

  • Adults: $50 per day (no meals included)
  • Children under 16: $5 per session

Táncház Entry (if not attending seminars):

  • Adults: $20
  • Children under 16: Free

🧵 Embroidery Workshops

Two special workshops with Eva Steverlynck:

  • Monday, December 29th: “Threads of Tradition” (ages 16+) – $10
  • Friday, January 2nd: “From Folk Art to Needlework” (ages 10-15) – $10

🎭 Queensland Theatre Group Monday, December 29th – 4:30 PM “Nem élhetek muzsika szó nélkül” Admission: $15


🥂 New Year’s Eve Ball

Wednesday, December 31st – 7:00 PM
Ring in 2026 in style! Music by Pityu and Ági and Régi Csibészek
Tickets: $80 per person (includes entry and 2-course dinner)

Also available: Under-30s New Year’s Eve Party (separate ticket)


🎵 Operetta Evening with Szóka Júlia

Thursday, January 1st – 4:00 PM
Special performance by renowned performer Szóka Júlia from Hungary
Tickets: To be announced

Food & Beverages

Our on-site Café will be open daily from 10:00 AM serving:

  • Traditional Hungarian dishes
  • Coffee and tea
  • Light refreshments
  • Snacks and treats

Lunch and dinner are available for purchase each day. Prices: $20

Ample free parking is available on-site.
