How You Can Help

Putting on an event of this scale takes a village. We’re a volunteer-run organising committee working hard to create something unforgettable, but we need your support. From bringing professional dance teachers from Hungary to setting up world-class sound and lighting for our performances, every donation helps us make this convention the best it can be.

Hi, I’m Steve Babinczky, and I’m part of the organising committee for the XVIII Australian-New Zealand Hungarian Cultural Convention, happening right here in Melbourne this summer.

Why We’re Raising Funds

Every few years, Hungarians from across Australia and New Zealand come together to celebrate our heritage, reconnect with our roots, and pass our traditions on to the next generation. This year, we’re hosting a five-day festival packed with music, dance, food, stories, and celebration, but we need your help to make it truly special.

We’re raising funds to bring professional Hungarian folk dance teachers and musicians from Hungary to lead seminars and workshops. This is a once-in-a-few-years opportunity for our young dancers and the wider folk dance community to learn from the best, and it’s something that will benefit our community for years to come.

We also need support for the practical side of things, like hall setups, professional sound systems, and lighting to showcase all the incredible performances we have planned. We want every concert, every dance, and every moment to be something people will remember.

What Your Donation Supports

  • Professional folk dance teachers and musicians from Hungary
  • Sound and lighting equipment for performances
  • Hall setup and staging
  • Creating an unforgettable experience for everyone who attends

Why This Matters

This convention isn’t just about putting on a good show. It’s about keeping our culture alive, giving young people a chance to connect with their heritage, and creating a space where generations can come together. It’s about making sure the songs, the dances, the stories, and the traditions that have been passed down for centuries continue for generations to come.

Every donation, whether it’s $10 or $1000, makes a real difference. And if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign with your networks helps us reach people who care about preserving Hungarian culture.

Thank You

On behalf of the entire organising committee, thank you for supporting this worthwhile cause. We can’t wait to see you in Melbourne this December.

Regards, Steve Babinczky (on behalf of the organising committee)
