A Warm Welcome

Everyone belongs here, however Hungarian you feel

For almost fifty years, this five acre site has been a home away from home for Hungarian families across Melbourne. It started with raffles, working bees and a lot of determination from the people who built it with their own hands.

Today it's a place for first generation migrants and their great grandchildren alike. Whether you speak fluent Hungarian, a few words your grandmother taught you, or none at all, there's a seat for you at the table.

Our Story

Honouring the past, building what's next

The Centre was built by hand by families who arrived with very little and a lot of resolve. We keep their photos, their stories and their values close, because you can't know where you're going if you don't know where you started.

"My granddad helped save this place back in the day. One day, my grandkids will know that too."

Every generation since has added its own chapter, and there's still a chapter to write for the ones who come next.

Questions people ask us most

Can I hire the facilities for a wedding or private event? +

Yes. The main hall, our other halls and the grounds are all available for weddings, birthdays and private functions of all sizes. Head to the Hire a Space section above to check availability and send an enquiry.

Where can my kids learn Hungarian dancing or the language? +

Hungarian School runs every Saturday morning during term, covering both language and folk dancing. Get in touch and we'll point you to the right group for your child's age.

My father or grandmother was Hungarian, can I still get involved? +

Absolutely, that's exactly who this place is for. Plenty of our members are second, third or fourth generation, and you don't need to speak the language to belong here.

Can I hire the kitchen without hiring the hall? +

Yes, the commercial kitchen can be hired separately by the hour or day, which suits small caterers and home businesses scaling up production.
